Smoke on the Water came about early spring of 2007. A group of long time buddies decided that the Thomaston-Upson community needed something to get involved in. Three months later, we were planning what would be the largest BBQ event that Thomaston had ever seen. With the help of the Florida BBQ Association, the gracious sponsors within the community and the support from friends and family, the 2008 Smoke on the Water became, what we hope to be, an annual fundraiser for the Local Volunteer Fire Departments and the Harbor House which temporarily houses children who have been removed from their home.

With seven volunteer fire departments in the community and the Harbor House, has become a popular community event that has been able to give back close to $25,000.00 since its first year in 2008. With over 75 sponsors nationwide and professional cooking teams from all over the South East, the 2009 SOTW alone donated over $15,000.00 back into its community.

With 2010 a new year, the new goals have been set. So with your donations and help we would like to make this year's event even bigger and more exciting than the past!
